Any guesses? A virus? Nope. This is a small sample of a website heatmap. It is a feature in the free web stats software phpMyVisites. It shows you graphically exactly where people have clicked on your website.

Green Consulting: Ahead of the Curve

U.S. News and World Report’s December 2007 article, “Best Careers 2008,” contained a feature called Ahead of the Curve. In it, they take a look at, “a dozen cutting-edge careers, viable now and poised for future growth.” Here is one that they featured: Green Consulting.

USNWR Green-Collar Consultant. The effort to stop global warming has become the cause of the decade. This wave of environmentalism is creating a panoply of research, corporate, government regulatory, and consulting jobs. The last may be particularly interesting. Some specializations: industrial carbon footprint reduction, green new construction and retrofits, municipality strategic planning for sustainability, wetlands delineation and restoration, ecotourism, and “smart growth” land use planning. Of course, if the scientific consensus breaks down or politicians and voters lose interest, jobs may become scarcer.

There are communications aspects to each of these new and growing green industries, and that is why we are here.

It can be hard to tell its fall when you live in New York. So we’ve teamed up with our favorite organic chef extraordinaire, Kelly Geary of Sweet Deliverance, to bring you a celebration of fall on the Gowanus Canal. Come join us for the first Gowanus Harvest Festival on October 14th, a fall-themed extravaganza to take place on our favorite Brooklyn waterfront. The Yard, perched on the banks of the “gurgling” Gowanus, will host a slew of Autumnal activities. With a locally grown organic farmstand, pony-rides, pumpkin carving contests, local vendors, live music and DJs, and local brews late into the night, the event will pay a lovely homage to fall in Brooklyn.
